TANAKA Masaaki

Medium: silkscreen prints

Masaaki studied oil painting,woodblock printmaking, stone lithography and copper plate etching at Musashino Art College. But the silkscreen printmaking was mostly self-taught.

One of Tanaka's most famous series of prints are his depictions of matsuri or festivals. Every community in Japan has its own special festivals, and there is an abundant source of colorful and unique imagery for the artist to share with his viewers.

Tanaka's skill is in his abilit to accurately capture the excitement and thrill of dancing figures, and allowing the viewers to feel the same kind of visual thrill.
