Yamaguchi Gen won international acclaim at prestigious print shows in Ljubljana Yugoslavia and Lugano during the 1950s. His works done after the Second World War were usually relatively simple, but strong dynamic abstract images.

Description

Wonderfully creation of a soaring bird by the artist who was a student of Onchi Koshiro. He was prominent in Sosaku Hanga Movement along with Onchi, Azechi Umetaro and Maeda Masao. He was known as both politically liberal and independent. He achieved international fame winning a prize at the Ljubljana International Print Biennial in 1956 and the Grand Prix at Lugano International Print Biennial in 1958.
