This shows one of only three pots made by Ogata Kenzan, a 17th C. artist. It’s in the Sackler Gallery of the Smithsonian. An awfully modern camellia design for 300 years old, don’t you think? Daniel’s rendition has immense power, with the added attraction of layered papers with chine collé, and the deeply textured Nepali paper.
