Gosho-ningyô or “palace dolls” represent one of the most distinctive styles of Japanese doll-making. Depicting chubby 3 to 5 year old boys, they are noted for plump limbs, bright expressions and playful expressions. Hasui did a group of 24 prints depicting these wonderful figures, in 1935.
