Issun Boshi is a traditional Japanese folk tale about a one-inch boy. The story is similar to stories from other cultures, such as Tom Thumb. In some versions of the tale, Issun Boshi beats a demon who flees, leaving behind a magic hammer. The hammer allows the boy to become six feet tall and marry the girl he loves.
