Description

Kintaro, or Golden Boy, is a figure from Japanese folklore. He was supposedly raised atop a mountain and befriended the local animals. He is known for his valor and strength, and is often depicted riding a golden carp. Note the other symbols of childhood in this wonderful diptych–tops, pinwheels and toys in the fabric design of the background kimono.
