KANAMORI Yoshio
Born: 1922
Medium: Woodblock

Mr. Kanamori is known for his subtle and graceful landscape scenes. He uses various techniques, such as printing on the backside of thin washi paper, to achieve his effects. Most commonly his themes include mountains and lakes, perhaps with a bird, butterfly or moon gracefully hovering in the sky.

His palette is dark without being somber. Rather, the colors are muted and relaxing, almost dreamlike. Soft lavenders, silver grays or teals are used with deep blacks to create these appealing designs.
